Letterbugfriends.com builds on the pioneering work of Shandel Gilbert, Ph.D., director of The Readers and Writers Workshop. In the 1980s, Dr. Gilbert created Letterbug, an award-winning language arts newsletter which was used in schools nationwide in both English and Spanish.

Today’s LetterbugFriends.com recreates Dr. Gilbert’s short tales in a dynamic, interactive mode to direct and enhance student thinking. The computer-assisted learning environment provides individuated instruction for each student. This directed instruction model guarantees student success.

The programming and design art for the demonstration project have been developed by the Bajzek Group, Inc..
